No golf trip to Scotland feels complete without St Andrews. The town is known around the world as the Home of Golf, and The Open returns here for its 155th playing from 11 to 18 July 2027.
St Andrews Links has eight courses: the Old Course, the New, the Jubilee, the Eden, the Strathtyrum, the Balgove, the Castle and the Craigtoun. Around them, the Fife coast has some of the best golf in the country, including Kingsbarns, Crail, Dumbarnie Links, Elie, Lundin and Leven Links.
Playing the Old Course
The Old Course is a public course, and there are several ways to get on it. Our guide on how to play the Old Course explains the ballot, advance packages and Authorised Providers. Check St Andrews Links for current rules and fees.
St Andrews Links says it is a ride from both Edinburgh and Glasgow airports, and Leuchars train station is about 10 minutes away by car. That makes Fife an easy start or finish to a longer tour.
