Ayrshire Awaits

Ayrshire is without a doubt one of the finest golf destinations in the world, with many of the courses featuring regularly in lists of the UK’s top 100 courses, including three Open Championship venues – Prestwick, Royal Troon, and The Ailsa Course at Turnberry –  and a newer championship venue in the shape of Dundonald Links.

It is easy to see why this is one of Scotland’s top regions for golf. Easy to reach and even easier to explore, Ayrshire sits on the West Coast of Scotland, only a forty five minute drive from Glasgow Airport and less than an hour and a half from Edinburgh Airport.

This is the region that gave Scotland its National Bard, Robert Burns who was born in Alloway near Ayr and after the golf you can explore the Burns attractions or take a wander around any number of historic castles and buildings and country parks.

Ayrshire’s larder is as good as any in Scotland with an array of farm shops and more; try the fresh local seafood or sit down to a main course of local reared lamb, beef or pork combined with Ayrshire ‘tatties’, or indulge your sweet tooth with ice cream, chocolate and more. Ayrshire has more than a sprinkling of fine dining restaurants and great value pubs serving local produce.
