The New Course is the oldest “new” course in the world. Old Tom Morris built it in 1895 as the second course at St Andrews, with undulating fairways and challenging greens that make it a classic test of links golf.
- Established: 1895
- Holes: 18
- Length: 6,517 yards
- Par: 71
It is a natural partner for the Old Course, starting from the same part of the links.
Booking and playing it
The New has always been mainly a walk-on course. Visit the Starter’s Hut beside the 1st tee and you will be given the next available time. You need to be ready to play, because times are issued in order and cannot be held for later. Visitor times start from 09:36.
Green fees
Adult fees in 2027 are £115 from 1 to 18 April, £165 from 19 April to 17 October, and £115 from 18 to 31 October. Fees can change, so check St Andrews Links before you travel.
